Our Friends
It’s not just beautiful scenery that shapes the environment around Brompton Lakes – the suppliers in the local and surrounding area are pretty important too. Here are a few that we think are well worth finding out more about.
Mandy Reed
"We make all our cheeses by hand following a method believed to have originated from the Cistercian monks who travelled to the Yorkshire Dales from Normandy in the 11th century.
We are very much a local producer supplying a range of specialist cheese shops, delicatessens and independent retailers throughout the UK, we sell direct at farmers’ markets and our cheese can be bought in local shops.
There are 14 varieties including Smoked Swaledale, Blue Swaledale and Swaledale with Old Peculiar Ale – another Yorkshire speciality! " Swaledale Cheese

We’re the last remaining walking boot manufacturer in the UK and we make around 150 pairs a week from our premises in Richmond, which is built on an environmentally friendly ‘brown field site’. All of our boots are capable of being refurbished on the original lasts to enhance sustainability, reduce waste and conserve environmental resources. Altberg Boot Makers

We've been established over eight years and have built a reputation within the region as a high quality bistro offering excellent food. The surrounding community is important to us so, where possible, we always source our ingredients locally, changing our menu twice a year to make the most of the finest seasonal produce. The Heifer

What makes us pretty unique is that we only sell organic produce. All our meat is home-reared and we trade with other organic farmers in the area to offer a full range of organic produce in our farm shop. We also have a tea room serving home-made cakes, light lunches and delicious ice cream – all 100% organic. Piercebridge Organics
